Guy Sebastian net worth: The Voice coachs $15.5m fortune revealed amid court case

Guy Sebastian has been making headlines in recent days after testifying in an ugly legal fight against his former manager.

The ex-Australian Idol winner and judge on The Voice believes he is owed $900,000 in funds never paid out by his agent, Titus Day.

Mr Day, 49, has pleaded not guilty to 50 counts of fraudulently embezzling money allegedly owed to Sebastian and 50 alternative larceny charges.

Police allege the money Mr Day owed 40-year-old Sebastian came from a mix of royalty, performance and ambassador fees which were paid to Mr Day’s now liquidated management company 6 Degrees.

Among that, Sebastian alleged he was never paid about $494,000 for performing with US superstar Taylor Swift during her Australian tour in 2013 and was owed a further $49,000 from a performance at a rugby match at Allianz Stadium.

Even though Sebastian is a celebrity, $900,000 is still an eye-watering amount to lose and would boost his net worth by a significant amount were he to ever get that money.

Several celebrity net worth websites have estimated that he has a fortune of anywhere from $13.3 million to as much as $15.5 million.

Sebastian shot to fame in 2003 when he was won the nation’s first ever Australian Idol.

He later became a judge for Australia’s version of X Factor from 2010 to 2016.

In 2015, he represented Australia at Eurovision and came fifth.

Sebastian has created nine top 10 albums, including two which hit number one.

Several others hit platinum or multi-platinum status.

He has also achieved 21 top 20 singles.

A dozen of these reached the top 10 and of those, six topped the charts.

He’s received 28 ARIA Award nominations, winning four including Best Pop Release and Best Live Act.

Some of his songs have also become popular in the US and New Zealand, placing on their charts as well.

As well as having a succeful solo career, he’s collaborated with some other big names in the music industry including Lupe Fiasco, Robin Thicke, Jordin Sparks and Eve.

In 2013, Sebastian and his wife Jules Egan bought a home in Sydney’s east in the suburb of Maroubra for $3.1 million. The property supposedly has a tennis court and a heated pool.

In September last year, an insider told New Idea magazine that Mr Sebastian had landed a contract for more than $1 million to work as a coach on multiple seasons of The Voice.

Celebrity New Worth has put Sebastian’s wealth at US$11 million (A$15.5 million).

The Richest claims he’s worth $10 million (A$14 million) while CelebNetWorth estimated US$9.5 million (A$13.35 million).

Sebastian was born in Malaysia to a Malaysian father and a mother with English and Portuguese background.

When he was six years old his family moved to Melbourne, before relocating to Adelaide for his father’s work commitments.

The singer was originally going to become a radiologist, studying Medical Radiation at the University of South Australia.

However, he dropped out of university to pursue a music career.

Growing up, he taught himself the violin, the guitar, the drums, and the piano.

Sebastian is set to take another financial hit after being forced to cancel two shows on his T.R.U.T.H tour because he tested positive to Covid-19.

He was meant to perform in Cairns on May 10 and Townsville on May 11.

Sebastian postponed both shows after testing positive to Covid on Thursday, just hours after attending court to testify in the trial of his former agent Titus Day.

All ticket holders to the Cairns and Townsville shows will be contacted via email. Sebastian is expected to resume his tour on the Gold Coast next Friday, May 13.

“I am absolutely gutted! I was so looking forward to performing in Cairns & Townsville next week,” Sebastian said in a media release.
