A motorcycle rider has been injured after a dramatic crash with a car in Perth’s CBD, with his bike ending up underneath the other vehicle.
The crash occurred on Monday afternoon along St Georges Tce, right outside Council House, which houses the City of Perth’s offices.
The exact circumstances of the crash is not clear at the time of writing, but it caused a white Nissan X-Trail to end up atop the black motorcycle.
The motorcycle became wedged beneath the front driver’s-side wheel.
Petrol or oil from the motorcycle had spilled during the collision, with firefighters needing to attend to soak it up.
The motorcycle rider, a man aged in his 50s or 60s, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital at normal road speed, and was conscious and breathing according to a St John Ambulance spokesperson.
Traffic on St Georges Tce was reduced to a single lane in either direction near Barrack St, with City of Perth rangers assisting police in controlling the flow of vehicles.
Crews worked to try and clear the crash site before the busy afternoon and evening peak-hour traffic period started.
